Oh Boy
I should really update this!

There's a Pokémon event on Saturday at the NEC, so I'll grab some PICTURES and make some VIDEOS then stick them on YOUTUBE and POST them. It will be a grand update of what will no doubt be a terrible event!

Nintendo Presents: Crossword Collection
While randomly browsing recent Nintendo press releases, I noticed one inclusion I had not really seen mentioned elsewhere. So consider this an EXCLUSIVE possibly, though I honestly can't be bothered to check around too much. The Google search box is just up there, even, and yet I'm too lazy right now to even fill that in.

Called Nintendo Presents: Crossword Collection, it's apparently a collection of crosswords presented by Nintendo. One of the selling points is that it comes on a dinky DS cartridge in a similar fashion to every other DS games. Another is that you can write over your previous answers if you change your mind.

Anyway, I emailed them as the PR had no box art attached and I wanted to show some. The lovely Steph replied within just 10 minutes and sent me this:

Click it for the nice hi-res version!

Oh, and it's out on the 18th December exclusively in the UK. Hoorah.

Mario RPG for Europe
Yep, only 147 months after the US release, Super Mario RPG finally shows its face in our fair region. I was terribly excited about this when I was 14, and the wait wasn't too bad. I mean, I've not died of old age! So well done Nintendo on another timely EU release.

It's 900 points on the Wii's Virtual Console, which is £6.30 in real money. Which isn't bad!

PART FOR NERDS ONLY BELOW

This marks the first chip-based game to hit the Virtual Console. The SA-1, in this case, which functioned as a faster CPU. Faster means from 3.58 MHz to a massive 10 MHz. It also featured memory mapping stuff, new DMA modes, built-in CIC lockout (for piracy!) and could do simple compression

Things
Things I am excited about right now:

Bionic Commando remake on XBLA tomorrow.
UK Darkrai Pokemon event on Saturday.
Too Human being nearly out.

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Expect another update on Saturday detailing our wonderful adventure to catch a legendary Pokemon, cutting through paths of 12 year olds.

Confused
Whilst browsing the internet for cute asian girls handling Nintendo stuff, I came across a somewhat confusing image. Someone has added speech to a picture of a Wii and its remote in an effort to be funny. Except I don't get the joke. Here is the image!

How is this funny? What's the gag? What form of comedy am I missing here?

Answers on a postcard.

Best of E3
Well I was going to do a 'Best of E3' feature but then I realised there wasn't really anything that qualified for the illustrious title of 'Best'. None of the keynotes had anything surprising or new or even exciting. Sony rehashed last year's show with added stuttering, Nintendo went even more casual and Microsoft got all confused and don't know who the hell their console is for anymore.

What a letdown! Even Animal Crossing, the game I was most looking forward to, is just a carbon copy of the DS version.

E3 used to be full of surprises, now it had exactly zero. Roll on CES!

YOU WILL PREDICT. PRE-DICT.
So nobody saw Banjo-Kazooie coming to XBLA, and everyone saw FFXIII coming to Xbox 360. And the Too Human demo is wonderful.
The new dash is odd.

But what of Nintendo and Sony keynotes later in the day? Here then are my own predictions.

--Nintendo--
  • Animal Crossing Wii, with extensive WiiConnect24 usage.
  • Now it's died down, they'll reveal a new Kid Icarus by Capcom.
  • The remaining "hardcore" Nintendo games will be shown: F-Zero, Starfox and 1080 Snowboarding.
  • Another peripheral! Other than the 3D space thing that's been shown, I mean.

--Sony--
  • Home.
  • LittleBigPlanet.
  • Afrika.
  • Tears of defeat.

E3
Is there anything exciting happening at E3 this year?

No. There is not.

Well, maybe Animal Crossing on the Wii.

And Megaman 9. That should be quite good.

Banjo will probably be "okay".

Summary of Gaming News
No time again for a proper update, so here's some cool stuff.

  • Megaman 9 is coming to XBLA, WiiWare and PSN. It will look and play exactly like a NES sequel. This is fantastic news!

  • Blood Bowl is being made into a videogame. I know one person who will be happy.

  • The internet is already moaning that Soul Calibur on XBLA doesn't look very good. Duh?

  • The Blizzard teaser has cracked wide open, revealing an evil face. Evil faces tend to be on the cover of everything Blizzard make though, so this is still no real clue.

  • I Am Murloc is up as DLC for Guitar Hero 3. Great song, shame it's in Guitar Hero 3 not Rock Band. The GH3 bunch are pretty awful at making fun guitar patterns.

    Dull News
If you missed the proper Super Mario Bros. 2 (aka Lost Levels) on Virtual Console the first time round, do not worry. It's coming back on the 14th September. So says the Nintendo Waste-of-space Channel.

    ...Space Channel?

    *idea*
